Hello world, and welcome to the TTP Playlist blog post.
My name is Gololosego Ntechane, and I’m known as GeenieYus Musiq. If you know me you know that I am extremely passionate about music and have spent countless hours listening to and creating great music.
So because of this I started developing an interest in becoming a curator. So this article will be a short story as to how and why I became a curator. And towards the end of the article I will explain as to how we will be proceeding with weekly posts and so on
So anyway lets dive into my story.
So whilst I was on this music journey of mine, I made a lot of songs. However I’ve always found it quite difficult to promote my music effectively. That is until I was introduced to the concept of submitting music to curators to get placed onto certain playlists. Now at this point I did not even understand what a curator was, so I had to do my research.
Whilst trying to figure out what a curator is, I read an article somewhere that spoke about how Jay Z started TIDAL, it read: (And I’m paraphrasing) “I have always been great at creating playlist for people to enjoy and people have always been given credit for being able to put songs together in a way that keeps them hooked” I read that and I was like damn, that’s me!
I’ve always had a knack for putting together enjoyable playlists for myself, for friends and my family. My sister and I would take a 4 hour road trip at least twice a year to visit home and I was always in charge of music for these trips, and trust me those trips were always lit!. One of my ex girlfriends would always tell me that “if your career as a rapper doesn’t work out at least you could always be a DJ” And this is the general reaction from people close to me
So after reading the jay z quote and doing thorough research on what it takes to become a curator I stumbled across “Playlist Push” which is a company that actually pays you for creating fire playlists that people follow and listen to regularly. Now your playlists need to reach a certain interaction level before you even appear on their radar but once you do
